Learning to Love Selling

As an entrepreneur,  I built my party plan business with two solid ingredients; me and my ability to understand my customers needs. This may sound obvious, but the fact of the matter is, when you are passionate about your product and you can convince other people that they need your product, you will have a successful business.

I have been a big fan of a selling technique called “Consultative Selling”. By definition, consultative selling is finding out why this person could use your product and showing them how your product can fulfill their needs.

Allow me you give you an example. I sell workout clothing. As a consultative salesperson, my first question is going to be, “Are you looking for something specific”.  Yes, she is looking for a workout pant.  “Are you looking for a running pant or yoga pant?” She’s a runner.“What do you like about your favorite workout pant right now?” Now, I have some more information.  She trusts that I understand what she is looking for. If your customer trusts you, and likes your product, she will not only buy from you, she will come back.

Now, it doesn’t stop there! You have her trust and now you can show her the matching top to those running pants with all the great reasons why this top will help increase her running performance.  This type of selling is genuine and you don’t feel like you are pushing your product. Moreover,  your customer will be happy with her purchase and want to come and shop with you again.
