If you are feeling stuck or frustrated in your health or fitness journey, it may be time to reevaluate your goals. What may have been your starting point for inspiration and what you are now working toward could have changed, and you need to always continue to evaluate what is driving your behavior and choices at the present time.
I recommend thinking about short term goals versus long term goals. Think of goals for the week, the next thirty days, and up to ninety days. What excites you now? What is going to help you look the other way from temptations that will try to pull you off track from meeting your goals?
Take time to write three new or rewrite at least three health goals. Without writing our goals down in a place we can see them, is just a dream. I am sorry, but this is the truth! At Home Moms, have you heard the saying “Out of sight, out of mind”? This is a perfect example. We lead such busy lives, and your goals are important, so write them down. Keeping your goals closer than your temptations is your key to successfully reaching your goals.
When you are tempted to stray, having your goals clear in your mind and close to your heart will give you more support to leave temptation behind and stay focused on your desired outcome. It is important to have clearly defined and positive goals, versus goals written with negative words or goals that are too vague.
I want your goals to be filled with positive words like “I am excited to wear this (describe the dress) to this event I have coming up in June.” Or, “I will shave 2 seconds off my fastest time in my next event I am training for.” Or “Each day I will consume at least 60oz or more of water.”
Do you see how this sounds different than writing down “I will lose 10 lbs”? The word “lose” is a negative. Make your goals clear, realistic, and use positive words. And remember At Home Moms – Keep your goals closer than your temptations!
