It may surprise you, that many people go about their work at home job search in completely the wrong way! This leads to great frustration and overwhelm because you apply to several jobs and never hear anything back. I don’t want you to feel this, or worse yet, take a job outside of the home and give up on your dream of working from home.

As you will find in this step-by-step guide, you have much more control and opportunity than you may think!

First – You Must Prepare

1) Answer the question: What are you looking for?

Deciding what jobs you want (or don’t want) will really help you. Be as specific as you can. You will be more successful more quickly when you know exactly what you want, and then go after it with consistency. Think about the following:

• What do you have experience or education in?
• What do you like to do?
• How much time do you have for your work? And do you prefer a set schedule or need flexibility?
• Do you have money to invest in an opportunity?
• Are there certain companies or types of jobs or industries you want to work for?

2) Get Support

We all need it, trust me I’ve been there! Network, socialize, be around people who know about opportunities. It is important for leads, gaining tips and special insight, and just your overall mindset to stay uplifted and motivated by people who are either going through it, or have been in your shoes.

3) Assessment: How does the world see you?

• Google yourself – What do you see? Is it in alignment with the types of jobs you want?
• Take an objective look at your social media sites – Yes, employers look at things like Facebook to see if you are the right candidate for the job. If your social media needs tidying up, tend to this before applying for jobs.
• Listen to your voicemail greeting on your phone. Do you have one? Does it sound confident, upbeat, and professional? Make any adjustments necessary. If you do not have a personalized greeting, you need one.

Second – How to Search for Online for Jobs:

1) Make a target employer and key words list

You need to create a list of keywords, job types, and targeted employers or companies. I’ll show you in a few steps how you can directly search for jobs online. So creating this list of key words and phrases will be a great help!

2) Polish up your resume

3) Post your resume online
