A Work Out Just For Moms

How to get in shape on your time with a flex schedule work out plan.

This workout and story was shared with At Home Moms from a stay at home mom and member of our site. Here is her story and how she lost weight and kept it off!

workout_tipsI am not one of those lucky people born with the perfect figure. I ’ve always needed to watch what I eat and workout regularly in order to stay in shape. Once I became a Mom I found it very difficult to resist the convenience of fast food and getting to the gym became impossible.

There was no choice but to create a fitness program to meet the needs of my new At Home Mom lifestyle. I am happy to report that my program has been successful for me (I am back to a solid size 6 from a size 10 after my 2nd child) so I want to share it with you.

Monday:
20 Minute Cardio Day 1. Take a brisk 20-minute walk. I am actually jogging for 20 minutes now, but it took me about 3 months of walking to get to that level. For the first 3 months I walked, slower paced at first then faster each consecutive week until I felt I was ready to jog.

Tuesday:
24 Minute Step Workout Cardio Day 1. We all know that getting to an aerobics class is not only an ambitious task when you have kids, but, it’s very easy to talk yourself out of going. The convenience of having your own aerobic step at home is no less than awesome! No excuses now! After you put your kids down for a nap, get your workout started in your living room.

You will need a step.

I use The Step ORIGINAL. This is the same step used in many health clubs. It comes with three height levels and an excellent workout video.

Wednesday:
30 minute abs and upper body Toning. I found a small, inexpensive workout device, Torso Track II that not only works out my midsection, but offers a great upper body workout.

Thursday:
This is an off day. Right on!

Friday:
24 Minute Step Workout Cardio Day 3 (Same as Tuesday)

Saturday:
30 Minute Upper Body Muscle Toning or Building. (Same as Wednesday). Get Dad to distract the kids while you sneak in another workout before the day begins.

Sunday:
This is a day off. Enjoy some rest and get ready for the upcoming week!
