Meet Karisma Shackelford!
Hi, my name is Karisma Shackelford and I grew up in Duarte, CA from very humble beginnings. I watched the sacrifices my parents made and experienced the setbacks we faced as a family. This created a constant burning desire to always want to have more and do more. What I experienced as a child and learned form my parents provided instrumental teachings in my life that has always played a role in the success I am having today.
After graduating High School, I moved to Los Angeles and attended my first two years of college. I didn’t stay. After being invited to travel to New York I caught the adventure bug! After visiting New York I returned home, dropped out of college and decided to return to the Big Apple. I lived in New York for several years. I landed a dream job for a 19-year-old college drop out working with the CEO and Founder of Jive Records! Jive Records was the home of Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears, Backstreet Boys and many more really big musicians, and I had the privileged of meeting and working with all of them.
I began to travel all over the USA, attended countless number of concerts and just having experiences that I had only dreamed of; however I missed California and particularly the warm climate. I decided to move back to California and continued to work in entertainment, started my own artist management business, and completed my degree.
During this busy time, I gave birth to my son. As much as I loved working in entertainment, becoming a mother changed me. Working 50 plus hour weeks by day and running my business began to take its toll on me. The amount of money I spent in monthly childcare fees I could have paid the monthly mortgage on my mother’s home!
I didn’t want to continue to work for someone else and have all of my income pay for childcare, so I returned to school for Cosmetology and one year later opened up my own beauty Salon called “Lights Camera Beauty in West Hollywood, CA and shortly after met my life partner, my best friend and my love Kyle.
I enjoy being an entrepreneur and my business thrived for years. In 2011 I became a mother for the second time and I worked in my salon all the way up to the day I gave birth. In fact, my water broke while I was servicing a client. I was excited and looking forward to becoming a mom for the second time, however I had no idea that what was coming in my near future.
Sadly, my time with my second son was short lived. My son passed away from SIDS just one month after his birth. My heart was broken and my life felt like it was falling apart. This was one of the most challenging times in my life and I prayed for changes and blessings to come.
My prayers were answered! I learned about a home based business where I would be able to help people all over the world put more fun, freedom and fulfillment back in their lives by showing them how they could create more lifetime memories from taking curated wholesale vacations called Dreamtrips. Through my work, I am able to create a really great income working from home or anywhere in the world as long as I have a laptop, a phone and internet service.
