We all know mornings can be difficult to wake up after sometimes minimal night’s sleep, get your energy levels up, and yourself dressed and ready for the day, all while tending to the needs of your kids. With a little preparation the night before and these quick tips, you will be alert and ready to have a successful day. Rise and shine At Home Moms!

Tips for the night before

#1 Wash and moisturize your face before bed to remove makeup and grime from the day. You will feel better, cleansed, and your skin will thank you for it. Even coconut oil is an effective all- natural makeup remover, deep moisturizer, and is fantastic for under the eye area and on your lips.

#2 There are days when a shower in the morning is just not possible, but maybe your hair will need a little refreshing. Applying a dry shampoo to your roots or using a small amount of baby powder to the hair roots (dark hair, choose a darker powder) will absorb oils overnight and allow for quick and clean styling in the morning.

#3 Here are 3 styling choices for your hair. Style before you sleep in and wake up a beauty when the sun comes up:

Set dry hair in soft rollers to create soft waves.

Wrap dry hair in a high bun on the top of your head or nape of the neck for texture and volume.

Braid damp or dry hair for a beach wave look.

#4 Drink a glass of water! Water helps to flush out toxins in your system, absorb nutrients, and will keep you hydrated while you sleep. Your cells will thank you for the extra hydration.

Tips for the morning

#1 Set an alarm at least 10 to 20 minutes before you know your kids wake up. I know sleep is precious, but the extra time to freshen up, use the bathroom, have a quick shower, or at least wipe off your face with a washcloth will be well worth it to ensure you get up and ready for the day.

#2 Plan to meditate or have time for prayer or in some way deepening your mind body connection. Your days are busy as a mom, and you will find incorporating this daily practice – you will be more at peace, patient, and on your “A Game”. Want to turn it into a brief workout? Possibly a few rounds of yoga salutations could be the solution for you. You get to stretch, increase circulation, and improve strength all while focusing and connecting your body to your breathing.

#3 Drink lemon water or a daily gentle cellular cleansing solution, so wake up the body, and get it functioning optimally. You will have less cravings during the day and start your day feeling more refreshed and energized.

#4 For skin and makeup, invest in a quick and easy dual use tinted moisturizer with sunscreen to even out skin tone and protect your skin. Highlight your cheeks, forehead, and top of your nose with a light application of a bronzer that compliments your skin tone. Finish your quick makeup application with a lengthening or thickening mascara and a tinted lip balm or gloss. Doing this will allow you to look and feel refreshed for whatever the day brings, and can all be applied in under two minutes.

#5 Have a healthy breakfast. Never skip this. You will slow your metabolism, so you are burning fewer calories and you are more likely to over eat later, or deplete your energy levels.

#6 Brush your teeth, always make time for this.
